White sage is used to clean and clear out negative energy. This is a broad leaf sage which is prized for its strong aromatic properties. California White Sage has been used by Native Americans for thousands of years for cleansing, purifying ones self and others as well as an area of space through the technique of smudging.
Each stick is about 4 inches in length.
The traditional way to light the smudging stick is to first light a candle. Use the candle flame to light the bundle from the top end. A flame may remain lit on fresh sage so do not be alarmed, simply blow it out. The smoke that comes from the smudge stick is what’s important, not the flame. Walk through your rooms clockwise and fan the smoke into the corners, doorways, ceiling, and floor. Feel free to open windows and doors to release excessive negative energy that may exist.
As the smoke lightly fills the space, say a prayer or hold an intention of cleansing and removing negative energies from the space.
How to put out your smudging stick:
Traditionally, a ceramic or glass bowl filled with sand is used to put out your sage stick. Once you are finished cleansing your space simply take the burning end and press into the sand until the flow of oxygen is cut off and the embers aren’t lit anymore.
*Keep out of reach of children, pets, and flammable material.
